USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

After running Microsoft Outlook program and check new emails, to view Vietnamese emails in the "Inbox", firstly select the email in the "Inbox" by clicking on email as following image:

At this moment, you may see series of strings in Latin characters without any meaning. To view Vietnamese characters in the email, select menu "View" as following:

Select "Encoding option", "More option" and then choose "Unicode (UTF-8)" as following:


At this moment, the content of your email will be converted to the Vietnamese characters and you can view the content of email in Vietnamese letters.

This is the way you can view Vietnamese content temporarily meaning that you need to repeat the same procedure whenever you want to read Vietnamese email.

If you want to view Vietnamese email permanent whenever you run the Microsoft Outlook program, you must set font as default value as the following instructions.

From the menu "Tools", select "Option..." as following:

The program will open a small dialog box, select the "Read tab" to modify font as following:.

Click on "Fonts... button" to open the Fonts dialog as following:

Set the options in Fonts dialog as followings:

  • In the "Font settings list", select "Unicode".
  • In "Encoding list", select "Unicode (UTF-8)".
  • Click on "Set as Default button" to apply the setup.
  • Click on "OK button" to finish.

Click on "International Settings... button" to open a new dialog and put a check mark in front of the option "Use default encoding for all incoming messages option" as following:

Click on "OK button" when you are finished.

Click on "OK button" on the Options dialog to finish the set up.

To check the ability of displaying Vietnamese characters, click on any Vietnamese email you can see word by word in Vietnamese character format.

From now on, whenever you run the Microsoft Outlook program, you can read new Vietnamese emails very conveniently.
